Finding and using the power button to turn your Ally Solos Glasses on and off
We’ve updated our terminology—what used to be called the power button is now the power bump. You’ll find it as a small, round bump on the outside of the right arm, just before the touchpad.
To turn your Ally Solos Glasses on, lightly tap and hold the power bump until you hear a short beep, followed by: 'Power High' or 'Power Good'.
If you don’t hear the beep:
- Make sure both arms (stems) are locked firmly into the frame. If one arm isn’t fully connected, your Ally Solos Glasses won’t power on or charge.
- Make sure your Ally Solos Glasses are charged.
- The Ally Solos Glasses will automatically power off after 3 minutes, and if you lay them down with the arms lying on a flat surface.
Here’s a video demonstrating how to turn your Ally Solos Glasses on or off.
Charging the Ally Solos Glasses
There are two ways to charge your Ally Solos Glasses:
- Recommended: Use the magnetic charging cable included in the box—it connects, with a soft click, to a metal connector on the underside of the left arm just next to where the stem connects with the frame. The Charging LED on the left temple shows red during charging and blue color after fully charged.
- Not recommended for new users: Remove the arms and charge each one via USB-C.
Note: The Ally Solos Glasses will automatically power off when charging. Also, there is no sound indicator when charging. If unsure, leave it connected for an hour, then press the power bump—if you hear 'Power High,' you’re fully charged.

When to Keep the Ally App Open and When You Don’t Have To
- You only need to open the Ally app when starting a new conversation or pairing your Ally Solos Glasses.
- Once you’ve started a conversation, do not close the Ally app, leave it running while you close your phone screen and carry on. Ally keeps running in the background and is there for when you want to chat.
- Once you have ended your conversation with Ally and you want to start another, you will need to reopen the Ally app on your phone.

Response Time and Performance
Currently, Ally takes about 3-4 seconds to capture an image. It then takes approximately 3-4 seconds to transfer the image by Bluetooth to your telephone and to respond.
You can speed things up by:
- Ask Ally to be succinct in describing the image and responding to your questions. You can do this when you ask the question or in the Ally personalisation option in Preferences.
-
Lowering the image resolution. You can do this by doing the following in the Ally app.
- Go into Settings.
- Select Connections.
- Select Ally Solos Glasses.
- Go to Advanced Features.
- Select Camera Resolution: The higher the resolution, the longer the response time: 1024 x 768 is recommended.
- Save your changes.
A couple of points to keep in mind: On-phone processing helps your glasses maintain an all-day battery life of up to 14 hours.
Touchpad Sensitivity
If your touchpad feels too sensitive or triggers Siri accidentally:
- Open the Ally app, go to Preferences, then select Ally Solos Glasses, choose the Advanced Features option and select Touch Sensitivity.
- Move the slider right for firmer taps, or left for lighter taps.
